Panasonic’s latest advances don’t stop with cutting edge i-Pro SmartHD, now the company has taken facial recognition into other practical applications with the recent announcement of WJ-NVF20 business intelligence functionality. An optional upgrade also allows the recorder to estimate gender and age profiles of hundreds of facial images. This brings functionality well beyond conventional security applications with the system even being used to assist retailers in profiling customers, thus helping drive sales performance on a station concourse for example.
